Totti update

Francesco Totti has been the center of discussion on several fronts for the National team.

He recently announced that he believes he is ready to return to the Azzurri squad. He has not played for the national side since the World Cup Finals last July.

However some have misinterpreted his comments when he said he would return for "important" matches while his teammates want to see more commitment from him.
Teammates want his full attention

Recently the FIGC and UEFA have warned him and others that they may not be able to play if they continue decline their country's call for international duty. Totti resisted requests to return to the national side until now. This may have hastened his desire to return.
Is Totti's time up?

Meanwhile he has decided not to have the metal plate in his leg removed. He broke his leg in the spring of 2006 during league play but he recovered sufficently to play effectively in the World Cup last year.
Totti says no to surgery

In Serie A play, Totti is on the verge of winning the "Golden Boot" award for the most goals scored by a European player. He has 26 goals compared to 23 by Van Nistelrooy of Real Madrid. Last years winner was Azzurri teammate Luca Toni of Fiorentina.
Totti tops in Europe for '07?
