Italy gets it done in Ukraine

Facing a tough crowd in Kiev and a must-win situation, the Azzurri secured three valuable points as they defeated Ukraine 2-1 on September 12.

Antonio DiNatale scored twice in the victory. The first tally gave Italy a 1-0 lead in heading into halftime. Ukraine would draw even at the 71st minute but DiNatale put the Italians on top for good with his second goal just 6 minutes later.

Italy is now in second place in group B and has a favorable schedule with the following games coming up including a key match-up with first place Scotland.
Georgia on Oct. 13 in Genova
Scotland on Nov. 17 in Glasgow
Faroe Islands on Nov. 21 in Modena

France-Scotland Shocker!

Dark horse Scotland pulled one of the big upsets of the Euro2008 qualifiers on September 12 when they defeated World Cup runner-up France 1-0 in Paris. The victory gave Scotland the lead in Group B with 21 points. Italy is second with 20 and France is third with 19. The top two teams from each Group will qualify for the Finals in 2008.

Italy plays France to a 0-0 draw












Italy gained a measure of revenge but also missed on a great chance to move head of rival France after drawing 0-0 in Milan on September 8 in Euro Qualifiers.

The game was a big improvement from the poor showing last fall against France in the early rounds when the fell 3-1 in Paris.

Their next game is against Ukraine on September 12 while France takes on Scotland.
