Cannavaro ruled out for Euro2008...vows to be back for World Cup 2010

The Azzurri suffered a major blow to their chances in the upcoming Euro2008 tournament when captain and key defender Fabio Cannavaro suffered an injured ankle in practice last week.

After it was determined that he was out for the tournament, he agreed to stay with the squad and said his plans to retire from the Azzurri after Euro2008 would have to wait. He said he will remain with the team through the World Cup in 2010.
