Donadoni to replace Lippi

Roberto Donadoni, 42, was named head coach of the Italian team replacing Marcello Lippi who resigned after leading the squad to the championship of the World Cup tournament.

Donadoni was a mainstay with powerhouse AC Milan in the late 1980's and early 1990's. He was also a member of the national team that finished third in 1990 and second in 1994. He later played briefly with the NY/NJ Metrostars of the MLS before returning to AC Milan.
